The sign is up and some construction has begun. We are so happy to see dirt moving and can hardly wait to see walls, buildings, parking lots, etc.
Last night at the City Council meeting the Redevelopment Agency of Eagle Mountain met and approved a Community Development Area (CDA) for the Parkside Community Development Project. Wow, that sounds a little overwhelming…in English please. We approved the project area and budget to offer Ridley’s Market a $500,000.00 incentive to locate in Eagle Mountain.
The incentive will be paid over a ten year period and will not be greater that $500,000.00. Ridley’s does have to meet performance measurements, and of course bring new tax revenue into the city in order to receive the incentive.
As a member of the board I struggle to offer incentives to retail business. However, the number one priority of our residents has been getting grocery store for the last seven years. I am so glad that it is finally happening. I do not intend to vote for other retail incentives in the future.
There will be jobs available at the new store. Ridley’s says that they typically start hiring approximately one month before they open. They anticipate hiring for this store around late September or October. It is possible to get hired with them ahead of time and potentially transfer to this store as well. Applications are received at their stores. They are currently hiring for a new store in Provo. That store is called LoLo’s Fresh Food Warehouse and will be located at 2250 N. University Parkway.
